Our Business Groups
The Marketing group reaches and engages consumers, businesses, and employees and is a single, unified group across products, services, and devices. The group is home to centralized and connected advertising, brand, communications, and media teams.
Programs & Philanthropy
ASME develops and implements multiple programs that support, create, and advance the field of engineering in 5 key areas: K-12 STEM Education, University Student and Early Career Engineering programs, Engineering for Global Development and Engineering for Change. In addition, the ASME Foundation provides support for ASME programs, scholarships, awards and honors.
Standards & Certification
ASME codes and standards cover engineering disciplines ranging from hand tools and elevators to bioprocess equipment and piping systems. In general, ASME standards provides technical guidelines for promoting safety, reliability, productivity and efficiency across all areas of mechanical engineering. In addition, Conformity Assessment is the division of ASME that deals with product based Conformity Assessment programs (mostly in the boiler and pressure vessel areas) and Publishing – which includes Journals, Conference Papers, Mechanical Engineering Magazine, ASME Press Books, and Web site articles.
The Engineering group handles the meetings and events of ASME. We also oversee all of the membership groups (technical, geographic, affinity) of ASME and support their engagement with the rest of the organization. We facilitate research into emerging technologies and work with our volunteers to act as Subject Matter Experts in assisting other Sectors in developing products and programs. Also part of this group is Government Relations & Engineering Education, and our Industry Advisory Board.
The Finance business group includes treasury activities, tax planning, accounting and reporting, internal auditing, and investor relations.
Human Resources & Facilities Operations
The Human Resources & Facilities Operations group is responsible for staffing, compensation, benefits, organizational development, diversity, and workplace culture; in addition to Facilities Operation.
The Legal group is responsible for all of the legal affairs of the Society. It maintains and develops the legal infrastructure required of a US-based non-profit which operates internationally, including organizational policy, document retention, regulatory compliance, and contracts.
The Technology Service group is comprised of Information Technology and our asme.org Production and Technical Units. The group manages ASME’s Business Application Management, Desktop Support, Telecommunications Network Operations and Security, Technical Project Management and Programming & Application Architecture. Under asme.org the team creates and maintains externally facing websites and manages our web content and production.
The Executive Operations group is comprised of our Communications, International Alliance units, as well as staff handling Executive Office Projects, Board Relations and Volunteer Training. This area is responsible for implementing programs and communications that help improve the Board of Governors’ effectiveness; in addition to, overseeing many of our international relationships with entities around the world and for representing ASME internationally, as needed.
