ASME B31 Process and Power Piping Design Learning Path

This official ASME Process and Power Piping Design Learning Path, comprised of three self-study eLearning courses accessible via ASME’s Learning Hub, provides ASME B31.1 training and ASME B31.3 training to provide learners with the key considerations along with the theoretical and practical skills to excel as a piping engineering professional.
 
By participating in this learning path, you will learn how to successfully:

• Interpret the ASME B31.1 Power Piping Code and the ASME B31.3 Process Piping Code
• Identify the differences and similarities between the two sets of code requirements and other related codes and standards
• Safely design piping
• Explain requirements for materials, fabrication, assembly, erection, inspection, examination, and testing
• Relate the qualification requirements for operators and operating procedures for welders and brazers
• Explain how to determine proper heat treatment requirements
• Determine mandatory minimum nondestructive examination (NDE) requirements and proper leak test selection
• Think critically through problems and make complex piping design decisions without the use of software
• Use formulas and pressure/temperature tables to calculate complex design criteria
• Explain how to comply with applicable regulations within jurisdictions, while achieving the operational, cost and safety benefits to be gained from industry best-practices

Who should attend?
This learning path was designed for mechanical engineers, managers, inspectors, welders, anyone involved in piping design, and others with an interest in learning more about the ASME B31.1 Power Piping Code, the ASME B31.3 Process Piping Code, and piping design.
 
Course participants are expected to have:

• Access to computer equipment and a reliable internet connection
• A calculator
• Software to display PDF files (such as Adobe Reader)

Supplemental Course Materials (not included with course, purchase separately)
Recommend access to the current edition of the ASME B31.1 Power Piping Code, and the ASME B31.3 Process Piping Code.

A Certificate of Completion will be issued to registrants who successfully complete each course in this process and power piping design learning path.
